Kids Can’t Wait

Mental health care for Ontario children and youth face a series of challenges including program cuts due to chronic under funding; skyrocketing hospitalization rates; and, long waiting lists for treatment that continue to grow.

As many as 5 out of 6 kids with mental health issues don’t get the treatment they need.

Let’s make Ontario a better place for families by prioritizing child and youth mental health.

Visit the Kids Can’t Wait website.

Tomorrow’s Chefs

We’re full!  There has been a great response to this new cooking program and we are full.

We do have many other great kids cooking programs available to try – March Break and Easter Monday Cooking School, along with PA Day Cooking Schools in Woodstock and Mt. Elgin and just for guys – we have Boys’ Cooking Group in August.  Check out all of those programs at the Programs Page.

Tomorrow’s Chefs is a 5 session cooking program for young people.  You will learn basic food safety skills, cooking and baking and reading recipes – and much more.

The sessions are planned and run by a group of students who have tons of experience in cooking programs at the health centre.  Leading the team is Jessie, a graduate of the food and nutrition program at Western University (Brescia College).  Each session builds on the previous one, so we request that participants come for all 5.

Sessions happen on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, staring on February 21st at the Oxford County Community Health Centre – from 6 to 8:30pm.

Register today by emailing Jessie or Trevor  or you can call 519-539-1111 ext. 215.

This program is sponsored by Youth United of United Way Oxford.
